With a visit of Universal Studios Hollywood, an amusement park in midst of the famous, still active movie studios, you can get a behind the scenes look at some of movie history's greatest accomplishments, the chance to see movie sets of truly legendary Hollywood Movies and lots and lots of fun.

 

Attractions of Universal Studios

The attractions at Universal Studios change from time to time but nevertheless are famous for being fun and exciting with every visit. The Simpsons Ride is a rapid ride through the world of the Simpsons. The Shrek 4D Movie is great fun with many exciting special effects. The Universal's Animal Actors Show presents and explains how to best work with animals on set. The House of Horrors provides Hollywoods greatest villains and monsters to give you goosebumps. On the Special Effects Stage various effects will be demonstrated and explained. Other rides include The Adventures of Curious George, an interactive water playground, The Blues Brothers Show, a Transformers 3D Ride, a mysterious roller coaster called Revenge of the Mummy, a Jurassic Park water ride and the NBC Universal film museum with stage props and costumes.

Everywhere in the park you will run into your favorite and the most iconic characters from different movies, for example the Minions or Shrek. The possibility to get a snapshot of your television hero is of course a given.

 

The Studio Tour

The main attraction of Universal Studios is the Studio Tour, where you will get exclusive looks and exciting insights at the making of films. In a kind of excursion train you will be driven to many different original film sets and sometimes even get to watch actors while shooting their next movie. The tour is always a mixture of iconic movie legends and current movie highlights. A memorable part of your tour could be catching a glimpse of the white shark or experiencing an earthquake. The most popular film sets on the tour are from movies such as Psycho, Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, Spider-Man, The Mummy, Crossing Jordan, CSI, Desperate Housewives, King Kong and The Fast and Furious.

 

Upper lot and lower lot

The theme park is divided into two sections, the upper and lower lot. Both are connected through the worlds largest escalator construction. The upper lot consists of the entrance, the Simpsons Ride and the Studio Tour. The lower lot incorporates the actual film studio area. Here you have less attractions and rides, but instead there are many more exclusive looks into the real filmmaking world and the place where the actual work of the film studios takes place.

 

The CityWalk

A perfect ending to your day at Universal Studios would be with a stroll through the Universal CityWalk. With many restaurants to chose from you can have a lovely dinner, take a walk alongside various shops, buy souvenirs and gifts or just follow the colorful and funky atmosphere of the place.

In the early stages of the park its only purpose and sole attraction was the Studio Tour, where visitors could catch a glimpse of real movie magic and snatch behind the scenes looks. In the early 1960s the park started transforming more and more into an actual theme park and was rapidly expanded. Today, Universal Studio is one of the most visited theme parks in North America with more than six million tourists each year.

By car

Reaching to Universal Studios is extremely easy. Just take the Hollywood Freeway (101) northward and exit at Universal Studios Boulevard. From there, you are led directly to the film studios.

 

By public transportation

Numerous bus lines stop close to Universal City. From some of the bus stops there are free shuttle-services to the main entrance of the park.
