Beach Playa de Sotavento de Jandía

"Playa de Sotavento" is a beach on the southern east coast of Fuerteventura. The beach is divided into the sections "Playa Risco del Paso" and "Playa Barca". Playa Risco del Paso is far away from the hustle and bustle and is protected from the land by two high dunes. The white beach Playa Barca becomes a shallow lagoon at high tide. So you don't have to wait for low tide for long walks along the crystal clear water.

The sand barrier about 100 to 300 metres from the shore is ideal to start windsurfing or kitesurfing, the beach's parade sports. There are surf spots by Rene Egli on both stretches of beach.

In addition, the windsurfing and kiteboarding world championships are held every year at Playa de Sotavento, which benefits from the good wind conditions

However, Playa de Sotavento is less suitable for relaxed bathing. Only in the small overgrown dunes it is somewhat sheltered from the wind. As the beach slopes very flat into the sea, it is also suitable for children. However, one should consider that there are many surfing beginners and professionals on the way

On the FV 2, take the turning at KM 72 and follow the road. This leads directly to the beach car park. The road is paved at the beginning, but the last 200 metres are a bumpy gravel road.
