Route description

You start your tour at the Drei-Schluchten-Halle (engl. Three Gorges Hall) in Bachheim, and then climb down the cross-cut Freiburg-Bodensee into the gorge. Follow the river until you get to the Gauchachschlucht gorge and cross the covered bridge that is called “Kanadiersteg”. Here you can see an impressive rock gallery, a genuine token of the Wutachschlucht gorge.

You leave the path and follow the river Gauchach upstream towards the castle mill. Cross the Gauchachschlucht gorge and pass the castle mill until you get to the junction at the Engeschlucht gorge. Take care here as it can get very slippery. Once you have passed all difficult passages, you see a little road leading to the hiker's car park at the end of the Engeschlucht gorge. For this hiking tour, steady footing is indispensably needed and it is furthermore recommended to have no fear of heights
