Description
The modern archaeological museum with more than 1200 exhibits is located in the park of Eggenberg Castle. Highlights of the permanent exhibition are Hallstatt period objects such as the cult car of Strettweg, the mask of Kleinklein or a find from Roman times: the silver cup of Grünau.
The museum deals with people from the past, their religiosity and everyday life, here it becomes clear how fragmentary today's knowledge about the past is. Also on view is a video project by media artist Sharon Lockhart that traces back to the oldest human traces in Styria. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, special exhibitions on a wide variety of topics are also organised.
