Lower Oder Valley National Park is Germany's only wetland national park as well as the first transborder reserve in cooperation with Poland. The wetlands are the core of this area. Large polders that are flooded regularly can be found here, preserving typical habitats and species of the wetlands.

The national park is one of the most biodiverse habitats in Germany. Apart from the wetlands, it also consists of mixed deciduous forests and blossomy dry meadows. More than 145 bird species breed here, and river Oder is known for its fish fauna, with over 40 different species.

You can explore Lower Oder Valley National Park on numerous bike and hiking trails, either by yourself or on a guided tour. The Nationalparkhaus visitor centre in Criewen features an interactive exhibition. Further exhibitions, a multimedia information desk, a students' lab, and an open air school can be found at Natura 2000-Haus.
